Climate

The climate in the Costa Dorada is a very moderate one. The summers are not scorching hot, nor are the winters frigidly cold. Tortosa is situated in the very south of Catalonia and has got the best climate of all Catalonia. While there are possibilities of snow even in the beaches 50 km north of Tortosa, we rarely see snow on our streets. Sure, there are nights with freezing temperatures, but so rare that it isn't worth mentioning. When the winter sun is shining, the air temperature gets immediately warmed up to tolerable degrees.

The mountains in the coast are like channels and increase the westerly winds that are caused by cold fronts moving through from the Atlantic. You will feel the surrounding temperature a bit colder than it really is, especially in winter. However, in the summer you will love it, and the winds will blow softer.

The water temperature of the Mediterranean drops to about 14 ºC in the winter and rises up to 26 ºC in the summer. In the following diagram you will see the average precipitation and temperatures of Tortosa. Click on weather forecast to get the weather for Tortosa now !
